SKIPPER UPDATE...cue tickertape sound and music...

ITS BEEN A WHILE
Skip seems to be doing well despite the dementia of Alzheimer's Disease. He loves his new persona and while his toys and my newspapers are no longer pristine, he is enjoying himself. He seems to be revisiting the puppy stage which I doubt he had much time to enjoy in his first situation (see saving skippy). So I am just going to remain patient with his night-time antics and his days of being a bit gorky and enjoy the remainder of his years with him in blissful goofiness!

took this one himself the little dork!

This was skips feature shot for "Pets on Furniture."

So Long Big Guy...

With the new year comes the unfortunate end of an era. Our good friend and genetically altered science experiment, "Big Guy" passed on this morning.

Big and Little Guys were welcomed into Martin's home with the expectation that they would be a short lived sixth grade science experiment. Well, now that his son has graduated college it has been determined that the boys were probably altered to live longer than normal frogs.

Big guy will be missed.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, ALL!
AND
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SKIPS!
LUCKY 13!
LITTLE UPDATE:
Skip has been doing quite well. His little touchas (bum) has gotten a bit thinner as the stage of doggie alzheimer's he is in causes some muscle atrophy but....he is running around and causing trouble like a puppy. He seems quite happy with his new sense of himself and as long as I don't kill him he will have a long happy time of it!

YEAH, LIFE IS GOOD!

he was so proud of this...

Bummer...

Doggie Alzheimer's Disease is more commonly known in veterinary circles as CCDS- Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome. It is characterized by a number of symptoms which I now recognize as having been with Skip for the three years I have had him. They are becoming more noticable now that he is older and his symptoms are getting a bit more serious.

The previous article gives a pretty thourough overview of the situation. It's a bummer but hey he's family so we will make some accomodations, make the best of a crummy situation  and enjoy the little old man while we've got him.

***I think it's time to kick back and take a break...so thanks for following. I will be sure to post any especially adorable pics as they occur...thanks again!

She had no unusual requirements. Except the special sense of mutual recognition that tells dog and human they have both come to the right place.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF BOBO

AUGUST 2012
Our good friend Cher who has taught Skip and myself much about tolerance and the canine/human experience suffered the loss of her good friend Bobo this week. Our hearts are with them. Bobo was a greyhound rescue who had some real anxiety issues that he was fortunate enough to work through in a loving and patient home. Cher writes: "When I first got him he was so afraid, he was even afraid to go outside.  This was him deciding if it was safe to go outside. I think he looks handsome here." We also think he looks very dapper! Love, L and S
